Ovarian cyst

The ovaries are part of female reproductive system, they are located in the lower abdomen on the both sides of the uterus. Women generally have two ovaries that produce eggs along with hormone estrogen and progesterone. There is always a chance of developing a cyst on one of the ovaries which are painless and cause no symptoms in most cases, cyst is basically is a fluid filled sac developed on the ovaries and every woman will develop one at least one during their life time.

There are different types of cysts

  • Follicle cyst
  • Corpus luteum cysts
  • Dermoid cyst
  • Cystadenomas
  • Endometriomas

The symptoms of ovarian cysts are:

  • Abdominal bloating
  • Painful bowel movements
  • Painful intercourse
  • Pain in the lower abdomen
  • Breast tenderness
  • Nausea and vomiting

Medical examination is required and at our facility, we have experts who conduct a routine examination and ultrasound test performed to determine any existence of cysts. We have the medical equipments such as CT scan, MRI and ultrasound to diagnose any such conditions.

Treatments provided by our doctors are to advise women to take oral contraceptive to stop ovulation if recurrent ovaries cysts exist. Laparoscopy procedure is performed to remove any cysts that exist. Laparotomy is performed if there is any presence of large cyst, ovaries and uterus will be removed after thorough examination of the conditions.
